Our Story; Physician Heal Thyself
5 Wise Virgins Beauty was founded by a born-again Christian family medicine doctor who decided to leave full-time practice primarily due to ongoing and worsening health issues. On her journey of healing, she began looking at toxins in her products and food that were causing inflammation, which in turn she believed were exacerbating her condition. With God's guidance and some further research and education, she began developing skincare products for herself and, ultimately, for others as well. She healed herself of her condition and no longer needs medication or surgery, which are the standard of care in allopathic medicine.
She always loved the topic of skincare and lotions in particular. During her almost 20 years in the healthcare field, the constant washing of hands required excellent moisturizer and she always had a hand lotion on her desk and in her purse. Hence, portability of the lotion is important to her.
One skincare topic that she is very interested in now is sun protection. Growing up in sunny Florida, she admits to not wearing sunscreen at all back then and even up until recently, she was not using it regularly. However, being older and wiser, and having seen how devastating skin cancers can be in her patients, her perspective has changed and she no longer leans on solely her good genetics for sun protection. As she develops her skincare line and company, she hopes to develop an excellent mineral sunscreen. She encourages hats, sunglasses, UV protectant clothing, and sunscreen.
With a background in the environmental sciences and creative writing in college, she cares for the earth's health. She believes God has given us stewardship of the earth. Reusing, recycling, reducing, and repurposing is important to our company, especially in the world of cosmetics, where tons and tons of plastic waste are produced each year and simply discarded without thinking about the impact on our environment.
We can't discuss the environment without discussing animals. Our company is also cruelty-free when it comes to animals; we are against animal testing for our products and our founder is committed to that.
Moreover, our founder cares deeply for womens' issues, especially when it comes to impoverished and disempowered women globally. The issue of sexual violence toward women in particular is extremely important to her, especially involving her country of ancestry, India, where there have been countless instances of rape and horrific murders of women.
Misogyny, colorism, and modern issues of perception of beauty are social issues of concern to her as well. Makeup, filters, botox, fillers - you name it - she has a perspective on it. She does not believe women need these at all but understands why they want and pursue them. She believes all women are created beautifully just as they are and encourages natural beauty by embracing how God uniquely made each of us.
In addition to women, her heart is closest to the children of the world, and issues such as child exploitation, trafficking, and abuse are the causes our company will do what we can to stop these evils forever.
Lastly, but most importantly, the founder of this company desires to carry out the will of the Father for her life and also bless and anoint other women and people who desire this as well. She hopes you all will believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior most of all; He who paid the price for our sins so we may be forgiven and be with Him forever.
Why are We Called 5 Wise Virgins?
Our company is named after the parable of 10 virgins, 5 who were wise and prepared and 5 who were foolish and unprepared. It is best told by reading the scriptures (below). In preparation for the Lord's return, there are spiritual and even physical preparations one must make. We hope to relay these to you and help instruct the body of Christ on these matters. The best things that one can do right now to prepare is to pray daily, read the Bible, and convene with other believers as the church. In prayer, we suggest you simply spend time with the Lord in your secret place; a physical place as well as a designated time where it is just you and Him, and no distractions, interruptions, or agenda. Consider setting aside a room or closet specifically for this purpose.
Let the Holy Spirit come to you and be born again by believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you don't believe or don't know how to, just talk to God as you would your best friend. He is there for you, and He loves you. God bless you and please read the parable below!
The Parable of the Ten Virgins
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps[a] and went to meet the bridegroom.[b] 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour."
